Today, the Minister of Justice, Alina Gorghiu, and the Director General of the National Administration of Penitentiaries, Dan Halchin, visit the construction site of the maximum security penitentiary in Berceni, Prahova.
With an open work front that covers an area of 220,000 square meters, the Berceni construction site is just one of the 21 active construction sites that we manage at the moment.
The Berceni penitentiary will have a constructed area of 77,710 square meters and a developed area of 94,263 square meters. The detention area will have 11 pavilions, as follows:
Each pavilion will have, apart from the detention rooms, a commercial point, an office, a dining room, a club for social reintegration activities, a classroom, a barber shop, a telephone, a hobby shop, a library, etc.
Other relevant facilities for both staff and custodial persons are the following: infirmary, administrative building for staff (offices, meeting rooms, common administrative areas, archive and sports halls with related changing rooms), quarantine pavilion, sports hall, pavilion "Visits".
